Júlia Signer is a spiritual dancer who was born in 1980 with her eyes on the Mystery. Júlia’s father wrote that nature “manifested itself in splendor” with heavy rains and rough waves, but at the moment Júlia was born, the sun rose and the birds sang. Carioca, grew up in Sampa. She danced when she was little, and it was a lifelong passion.
As a child, she began her first formal studies in classical ballet and then modern ballet at the Stagium school. The first dancer to make an impact on her life was Isadora Duncan. As a girl, Júlia was enchanted by bare feet and the influence of nature on dance. As a teenager, she began a solo career dancing to the elements of nature.
(Who is JÚLIA)
At the age of 11, she was given a tarot by a friend, and with her childhood intuition she began to draw cards. During her teenage years, she began studying the cards and has continued her research to this day. She has been working professionally with the cards since he was 27.
When she started meditating at the age of twenty, dance developed as a way of “talking to God”. At university she studied Cinema, with the idea that “life is a movie”. She has produced more than 30 short films and two feature films, all independently with the support of her father and actor friends. In the films, where she wrote, directed and edited, the spiritual character and deep reflections were already felt.
At the age of twenty-two, she entered monastic life, leaving her artistic life behind to return to it later. She followed the path of study and spiritual teaching, graduating in two lineages of Tibetan yoga, the Bon with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche as her master; and the Dzogchen with Namkahi Nobre Rinpoche as her master.
She also trained as an Ayurvedic body therapist, as a student of Kussum Modak and also went to Thailand to learn Thai massage. In her spiritual training, she also delved into Kabbalah, living in Israel for a while. In her readings, she fell in love with the poetry of Sufi mysticism.
It’s been 20 years of impeccable dedication and discipline, training many yoga and massage professionals and assisting many people to relieve their hearts. During this time, she completed her master’s degree in Religious Sciences at PUCSP, writing her thesis: “from the self to the non-self”. She used Jung’s knowledge to translate Buddhist psychology. In this master’s degree, she described what happens psychologically to a person when they reach spiritual enlightenment. For the merit of her grade, which was 10 with honors, her work has been published.
In order to improve her skills, Júlia continued to travel, learn and teach, and has been to various countries, including Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Spain, Germany, Holland, France, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Poland, Israel, Nepal, India, Thailand and Japan. Júlia has never seen distance as an impediment to her study and work.

(DANCE)
Dance has accompanied her for all these years, and one curiosity that already showed the importance of dance in her life was that she assessed the spiritual evolution of her Tibetan yoga students through the way they danced. She always saw dance as a way of seeing “the whole human being”, “dancing shows what is clear and what is hidden”.
Her artistic life began again when she was 37. As fate would have it, Júlia was the director and resident of a Tibetan Yoga spiritual center, where a Tribal Fusion Belly Dance teacher insisted on teaching.
Graziela Calis, that was her name, convinced Júlia to teach at Lotus Mar (the spiritual center). Júlia became fascinated by this style of dance. Dedicated as she was, she started researching and found other teachers.
She had Joline Andrade and Zoe Jakes as her main references, but it was in Jill Parker’s class that she came across the teaching that she should study Belly Dance in order to dance Tribal Fusion well.
However, she was surprised to find that Belly Dance was the home of her Soul! She wandered from teacher to teacher, learning from each one what they had to offer. Her main teachers were: Jade el Jabel, Telassim Alchira, Mahaila El Hewa, Gisela Daher, Márcia Dib, Yasmin Nammu, Ju Marconato and Nahla Morani.
In her studies there was something that happened: because she had a very spiritual background and was connected to the energies of the body and the elements, Julia realized in her training that the dance spoke to her “more than was being said”.
It took her 7 years to be able to listen, and once the energy became clear, she began to produce wisdom with the energy! She created Spiritual Belly Dance, and in no way thinks she invented it, just that Júlia reveals here that it’s already there and everyone can feel it.
In this aspect of Belly Dance, Júlia uses the dance itself as a spiritual path. When you dance, you feel the energy and so you produce more energy through your movements. The development of this skill is to connect with the energy of the audience, and from this energetic union, the dancer elevates the energies present, as well as revealing and healing hidden and painful energies.
Since 2020 she has been producing her own solo shows as well as taking part in collective concerts and festivals. Together with two musicians, she produced and created the soundtrack for “Ajay”, an album available on all digital platforms. Ajay is a show that has not yet been premiered. In her personal career, Júlia has developed a number of narrative dance shows, telling stories through dance. All with live music or music produced for the show.
Since 2023 she has been teaching Belly Dance through the magical paths of energy that blossom the beauty of the body, mind, emotion and soul.
She is the owner of Tenda Dakini, a dance studio in Itacoatiara, Niterói, RJ. She promotes classes, shows and retreats.
